Welcome! My name is Kristin, and I am the owner and instructor here at Sassy Stables. I started the business in 2010, soon after buying my Tennessee Walking Horse "Sonya" - who is pretty much the star of the show here. I grew up in Upstate NY and started English/Jumping lessons at the age of 9. We kept our horses at home so I learned at an early age how to care for and manage a stable. I also grew a love for Western style riding, and enjoy both riding styles on my horses either in the ring or on the trail. When I moved here to Greenville, I wanted to find a place where I could just "come out and ride" - and be myself. Not really a fan of the show world, I never appreciated the pressure and drama that came with that sort of atmosphere. I wanted to find a stable where people of all ages, disciplines and experience could come to learn and have fun, without the stress. I couldn't find that place - so I built it.
Kristin and Jeremy Ahlum moved to their new farm in 2018 after falling in love with the Blue Ridge area. Kristin grew up taking care of her personal horses in upstate New York, and after finishing college, moved to South Carolina for the beautiful weather. Kristin introduced Jeremy to riding shortly after they met, and they both are very passionate about trail riding and enjoying Hunter Pace Rides all over SC and NC. They currently own 3 horses , not to mention 3 dogs and 3 cats! Their little farm family may seem big enough, but it is still growing - as they just had their first child, Colton, in September 2018! Kristin handles all the riding experience packages, and has been running her business Sassy Stables in the Greenville area for over 10 years now. You might catch Jeremy riding the tractor, feeding the animals, or working on the barn during your visit. You might even be lucky enough to meet little Colton! We can't wait to see you on the farm. Please contact us, as we are by appointment only.
Meet The Horses
"Sonya" is the inspiration behind Sassy Stables. She is a solid black Tennessee Walking Horse Mare. She is the main lady on the farm, and does most of our children's and beginner rides!
"Chevy" is the spunky older gentleman of the farm. He is a 'Buckskin' Quarter Horse Gelding. He is best for a little more intermediate riding experience, as he has a sensitive motor!
Luna is the newest to the Sassy family! She is already the boss of the herd. She is a beautiful Palomino Quarter Horse and has wonderful ground manners and training.
Here at Sassy Stables, we want to bring people together with horses in a beautiful, fun and safe environment. We want to show you what a wonderful bond you can make with a horse, simply out of love and trust. Our mission is to provide a casual environment where everyone can feel comfortable to be themselves, and enjoy a real hands on experience. We pride ourselves and our horses on being very patient teachers. We are NOT a group lesson or boarding facility, which makes for a busy and stressful environment. We are a private, family owned stable, which gives us the unique ability to solely focus on you. Please contact us for availability, as we are by appointment only.
